She ran. Others watched as she raced through the wooded lands of the North. The reason for her panic was obvious. Earlier cubs from the pack were stolen. The canine village had been searching for them all morning. Suddenly she caught a whiff of the older female pup and raced desperately towards her. She gave a howl signaling she had located the scent of the pup and sped up knowing the others would catch up soon. There was blood all over the field four scents were in the field but the blood only belonged to the crow demon who pup-napped the cubs in the first place and another which she could not place. Seeing movement on the field she spotted the older female as the rest of the pack caught up. The pup ran over to her and gripped her in a fierce hug.
Ava what happened? She asked the pup.
After the mean crow took us he landed here and said he was going to eat us when this black streak knocked him away and told us to hide in the abandoned den behind her. Then she attacked the crow and killed him. She was hurt before and the meanie hurt her more. Ava started to cry and she handed her off to her father. She wont wake up. Ava wailed. She walked toward the den and knelt down she almost gasped at the sight of the cubs conservator. Her body was in shreds, bruises covered her arms and neck. The color of her hair could not be determined because of the amount of grim covering her body. No doubt some of the gashes were infected. She spotted the younger cub curled up in the back of the cave.
Aaliyah. She whispered her soft voice echoing. Aaliyah saw her and scrambled to her careful not to jostle the sleeping demon.
Sister, why wont she wake up? Aaliyah asked.
I dont know go to your father, I must help your savior. Aaliyah let go and ran out. She carefully lifted the girl out of the den and on to her back. She started running back to the tribal village where fox, dog and wolf all lived peacefully. They even had a few mixed breeds and half breeds parents already killed. They could live there without feeling endangered. The rest of the pack followed silently trying and failing to discern her demonic aura. When they entered the village she ran strait to her home and laid the girl on a guest bed and called for a healer. Leaving the healer to her work she made her way to her fathers quarters.
Trinity, I herd you found our cubs good work. He praised her.
Father I was not the first to find them another girl found them and killed the demon before I even sensed them. Trinity confessed. Her father looked surprised. From what the pups told me she had been wounded before her fight with the crow and it managed to injure her further. Shes in the third guest room if you wish to see her. She bowed low to her father. Though I doubt shell be much for talking for awhile seeing as shes unconscious. Her father grinned he had wanted to talk to the girl and found that his daughter to wanted to speak with the girl about the recent happenings.
Milady, Milord she has awakened. The healer informed them. Both looked surprised at each other then at the healer. No I do not know how she has awakened but she should not be moved. I have told her this but she seems to feel very uncomfortable here, like we will kill her without a thought. The healer bowed and exited the room. Father and daughter raced from the room each keeping up with the others pace.
They open the door slowly so as not to startle the girl. Hearing the girl jump despite the precautions Trinity opened the door fully and entered. The girl shook trembling at the sight before her. Two of the strongest canines in Snowmeadow stood before her. Putting herself in the girls position shed be terrified. Her father keeled low to the girl before speaking.
Thank you for saving our cubs we are indebted to you. His light tenor voice bounced off of the wooden walls.
Yes, thank you without you we would have lost two very fine cubs. Trinity knelt to her soft alto voice bringing the girl out of her frightened state. After hearing no response they both looked up as one. Trinity cocked her head to the side. The girl griped her neck to symbolize having been chocked then pointed at her mouth while moving it. Instantly she understood that she had lost her ability to speak because of an attack on her throat.
We would be honored to have you stay till your wounds heal and leave when ever you wish as thanks for saving the pups. Her father explained also getting the message. She suddenly seemed panicked she swung her hand back and forth in front her chest. She paused thinking of her next movements, then she made an imaginary bow and pulled it back and face towards Trinitys father and let it go then she fell over backwards pretending to die.
You want to kill me? He asked confused.
No, shes trying to say that shes forbidden. Its against the law to murder the pack leader. Trinity looked at the girl for a confirmation, when the girl nodded her head she walked up to the girl and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Wincing for what she thought would be the killing blow she tensed when Trinity hugged her. Something she had not been expecting.
You might be surprised but we harbor many of the Forbidden Blood here in our village. She grinned at the demoness. Suddenly the girl broke down crying and clutched Trinity like a long lost sibling. Stunned by this, until the reason hit her like a ton of bricks, elsewhere in the world she would have been killed on the spot saving the cubs or not. Youve never been treated this kind have you. She asked softly. The answer was a head shake side to side and an brobdingnagian sob. How bought when the grumpy ol healer lets you get up I get you to a bath? Trinity asked. The girl held her nose and pretended to gag at her own stench. Both laughed and could tell they would be great friends.
What is your name child? Trinitys father asked. Suddenly Trinity bolted from the room. The girl tilted her head in much the same fashion Trinity had moments before. She dashed back into the room holding a bottle of ink, a quill and a piece of parchment. She thrust them to the girl who happily took them and gently scrolled out her name, turning around the paper so they could read it. Destiny was written in very fine, and nobleish script.
